Hello, I'm helping draft requirements for a project where Employee Self Service is live and external facing over the internet. It is being delivered through the SAP Portal with the UME pointing to the ECC ABAP store. This is working fine for folks who are employees. Now as a separate project we would like to utilize the SAP Portal even further and deliver functionality to external customers. The plan would be to allow the register the customer in the portal -> UME and tie the UME ID to a CRM Business Partner (role internet user). Along with this registration process we will provide other forms and CRM functionality to the customer via the portal.
My main question is: can the UME be pointed to two systems and used to manage to separate sets of users e.g employees who need access to ERP/ESS and customers who need access to Portal/CRM. Or do we need to stand up another portal instance to do this? The hope is to utilize the infrastructure and security that has already been put in place.
