Missing active sockets for ssl provider in Visual Administrator

hi all,

Maybe some useful info for someone in the future....

After applying a patch to our sandpit portal environment via SDM, the portal stopped accepting any connections, http or https.

Checking in Visual Admin for the SSL Provider on the Dispatcher node, I found the Active Sockets no longer existed, even though the HTTP Provider had the correct Ports and the Key storage area on the server nodes had the correct ssl credentials.

Various google searches showed its a common problem, but no one seemed to have a definitive answer.

The sequence of steps I used in Visual Admin to fix it are as follows.

1. on Dispatcher -> Services -> SSL Provider, click Server Identity and choose correct ssl credentials,

(It allows it, even though there are no active sockets.)

2. on Dispatcher -> Services -> HTTP Provider, cut & paste the key for Ports to a text file, then blank the key, update & Save

3. Stop & restart the portal (SAP MMC)

4. once restarted, back in Visual Admin, reinsert the ports entry into the Dispatcher -> Services -> HTTP Provider

5. Active Sockets should now reappear in Dispatcher -> Services -> SSL Provider

It worked for me, so hope it helps someone else.

Regards,

Sean Collins
