Assigning SAP provided Standard Desktop to User's for isolating issues

Overview :

 

 

When there is any issues in Enterprise Portal (for example issues related to rendering), its important to replicate the issue once with standard SAP desktop.

With this we can isolate the issue if it lies with the custom desktop in case it is used.


This document details with the steps to assign the stadard SAP desktop to the user.


Environment:

 

  • EP Release Independent SAP Net Weaver

 

Solution :

 

  1. Login to the Portal.
  2. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Portal Display -> Desktops & Display Rules
  3. Expand Portal Content -> Portal Administrators -> Super Administrators -> Open Master Rule Collection
  4. Click Add IF Expression, maintain IF User = <specify the user> and click apply
  5. By default it would assign the Classic Portal Desktop.

If you want to assign the standard Ajax Portal Desktop continue with the following :

 

   6. Click on  THEN expression

   7. Expand Portal Users -> Standard Portal Users -> Ajax Framework Content

   8. Right click on Ajax Portal Desktop and choose " Add Portal Desktop to Expression" and select apply

   9. Save the changes and re-login into the portal.

10. The user is assigned with the standard SAP desktop, either Classic Desktop or Ajax Desktop as chosen in the Master Rule Collection.
