Single Sign On with Logon Alias

We have implemented SAP Enterprise Portal 7.4 with SLM Business Packages. Portal UME is using SRM system as an ABAP Data Source.

As per the SLM Vendor process User ID is created automatically by the system and the vendors can then choose an alias for this User.

This alias is maintained as the Alias in SRM system and is replicated onto the Portal in the UME property "Logon Alias".

We have also configured SSO with the same SRM system. While SSO works perfectly when we login to portal using the User ID, it fails when we login through the Logon Alias.

Does Single Sign-On from Portal to any ABAP system work for Logon Alias as well or is it only meant to be used for User IDs?
