leave applying process in ESS portal

Hi Guru's,

we have once scenario in HCM . while creating the leave in ESS portal we need to do the validation and need to display the error message if condition was not satisfies . please help on this scenario .

if i do the same scenario in ECC infotype 2001 through customer exit it will reflect there in ESS portal?
