The standard framework of SAP EP includes a lot of heavy javascript files and css files. Only these files are 700Kb more or less:
- sapUrMapi_ie6.js (315 Kb)
- controls_ie5.js (68 Kb)
- ur_fc_ie6.css (67 Kb)
- ...
So if you want to use the portal, you have to download at least 1Mb (including images and html files). If you access to the portal through a low connection it's a big problem.
I've tested the light framework with the idea of reducing the SAP EP pages weight. Then I changed the standard framework to the light one and I've changed too standard page layouts to the light ones.
Anyway, what was my surprise, when I discovered that the standard light iViews (like masterhead light, detailed navigation light, ...) include the heaviest javascript file (sapUrMapi_ie6.js) and others... So my pages weight is more or less the same...
Is there any way to reduce the weight of the SAP EP without using external-facing portal?
