The Web Content Management capabilities of SAP Enterprise Portal are provided by Web Page Composer (WPC). This new tool enables your business users to manage most of the business-relevant WCM tasks (for example creating and updating web sites, pages, and content) in an easy and effective way without the involvement of administrators or portal experts. Only the necessary and technical tasks (for example creating additional page templates, layouts and styles, offering application content) are dedicated to appropriate people in your IT department.

Overview
Web Page Composer is a tool for business users that facilitates the creation and management of portal pages that can combine business applications with user-generated Web content and static content. In this way, major content creation activities can be performed directly by business users, enabling IT personnel to focus on core tasks and innovation. Web Page Composer provides an intuitive work environment that is fully based on standard portal capabilities. Applications and content can be integrated from SAP and non-SAP sources. Portal pages can be enriched with applications and user-generated, unstructured content such as articles, news, documents, and banners.
In contrast to the more document-centric content provided by KM the tight integration of Web Page Composer with the portal also allows you to use application content (e.g. iViews providing dynamic reports, and stock quotes) on your web pages. This content is directly available via the portal content directory (PCD). In addition, all capabilities of the external facing portal (e.g. light framework page and short URLs) are supported by WPC. This allows the implementation of intranet, extranet and Internet scenarios.
